Traveling to Spain

How to get there

  • Spain has excellent international connections. You can arrive by air, land, or sea.
  • The main international airports are: Madrid-Barajas (MAD), Barcelona-El Prat (BCN), Málaga-Costa del Sol (AGP), Palma de Mallorca (PMI), and Valencia (VLC).
  • You can also arrive by train from France via the high-speed line, or by bus from various European countries.
  • If traveling by car, Spain is connected to France through several border crossings, with La Junquera (A-7/E-15) being the most important.

Best time to travel

  • Spain is a destination that can be visited year-round, though each season has its charms.
  • Spring (March-May) and autumn (September-November) offer pleasant temperatures and fewer crowds.
  • Summer (June-August) is ideal for enjoying beaches and festivals, though it's the hottest time with the most tourists.
  • Winter (December-February) is perfect for skiing in the Pyrenees or enjoying the mild climate of the south.

  • Peninsular Spain and Balearic Islands: UTC+1 (CET) in winter, UTC+2 (CEST) in summer.
  • Canary Islands: UTC+0 (WET) in winter, UTC+1 (WEST) in summer.
  • Spain is one hour ahead of the UK and Portugal, and the same time as France, Germany, and Italy.
